SUMMARY DRAFT 3: IMPROVING INDOOR AIR QUALITY

According to  Guidelines for Good Indoor Air Quality in Office Premises  by Ministry of the Environment (1996), the design and construction of air conditioning and mechanical ventilation system (ACMV) could affect the indoor air quality of the building. A certified personnel must inspect the ACMV system at all stages of construction to prevent the spread of contaminants and bacteria through circulated air. In order to achieve good air circulation through both natural and mechanical means, outdoor air must be filtered for foreign debris, certain amount of air changes per hour must be met. It is ideal to design and construct the air intakes to be located where air are the cleanest, supply and return ducts to be made easy to reach for maintenance and cleaning. Building components that do not belong to the ACMV system must not be in air-handling rooms. Ministry of the Environment. (1996). Guidelines for Good Indoor Air Quality in Office Premises. Singapore. UNIT 2 TASK 4: WRITING A FORMAL EMAIL

Dear Prof Brad, I am posting this blog post as an introduction to you. My name is Wu Lok Tin, currently a student for Sustainable Infrastructure Engineering (Building Services) programme. I graduated from Temasek Polytechnic with a diploma in Integrated Facilities Management, which was where it sparked my interest in continuing my studies in this field of industry. Initially I had difficulties in speaking to strangers, fearing of not knowing how to keep the conversation going. However after spending 4 months of my student internship programme in Walt Disney World as a cast member, where I was forced to speak to strangers every day as the job requires, speaking and expressing myself to strangers did not seem difficult after all. I have learnt that if I want to approach others, I must first be approachable. On the other hand, because I was born and raised in a non-English speaking family, where communicating in complete correct English sentences were almost non-existent. Somet...

UNIT 3 TASK 2, REFLECTION IN REAL LIFE

A habitual behaviour that later developed into a problem for me was not planning ahead and just proceed to do whatever that comes into my schedule first. This caused problems like losing track of time to accomplish tasks before deadlines and also expecting meaningful outcomes after finishing them. I felt demoralised most of the time because I could not finish what I had started and sometimes even lose the motivation to start on new projects. I felt that I did not have control of my life as I was spending most of my time rushing to clear backlogs. However the only way to change was to adopt an organised schedule, so to have more control of my time. I started taking small steps like waking up earlier each day in order to have more time to work on before lunch, keeping track on a checklist of items that needs to be accomplished by the end of the day. Slowly I found out that I was able to finish what I was supposed to do within the timeframe and sometimes even accomplishing ...
